Los adverbios son, junto con las preposiciones y los verbos, un tema que puede dar dolores de cabeza a los estudiantes de inglés. ¡Y no es para menos! En inglés existen muchos adverbios, y no todos se comportan de la misma manera. Pero no hay que desesperarse. La mejor manera de aprender a utilizarlos es familiarizarse con ellos, verlos en acción; y para ello te traemos cien ejemplos de frases con adverbios en inglés.
Pero antes, vamos a recordar rápidamente qué son los adverbios y para qué sirven.
Qué son los adverbios
Los adverbios indican cómo, cuándo, dónde pasa o se hace algo. Es decir, su función es la de aportar más información sobre lo que está ocurriendo o lo que alguien está haciendo. Mira esta frase:
- My brother drives carefully ➡️ Mi hermano conduce con cuidado.
En este ejemplo, la palabra carefully (“con cuidado”) nos indica cómo el sujeto realiza la acción. Esa es la función de los adverbios.
En inglés, algunos adverbios se forman a partir de un adjetivo y añadiéndole el sufijo -ly. Por ejemplo:
- quick (rápido) ➡️ quickly (rápidamente)
- soft (suave) ➡️ softly (suavemente)
Pero esto no siempre es así. Muchos adverbios son palabras en sí mismas.
- We always watch this show ➡️ Siempre vemos este programa.
- Yesterday Lana went to the beach ➡️ Ayer Lana fue a la playa.
Tipos de adverbios
Hay muchos tipos de adverbios en inglés. Los más comunes son los de modo, los de frecuencia y los de tiempo. Pero existen más tipos. En la siguiente tabla puedes ver algunos ejemplos de cada tipo de adverbio.
