Qué es el second conditional y cómo se forma
El second conditional es una construcción gramatical que se utiliza para hablar de situaciones hipotéticas futuras o presentes que es poco probable o imposible que se cumplan; es decir, esperanzas, sueños, fantasías, etc.
Esta es la fórmula para construir frases en second conditional:
preposición if + verbo en past simple + would + infinitivo (sin to)
- If I won (past simple) the lottery, I would travel (infinitivo sin to) the world ➡️ Si me tocase la lotería, viajaría por el mundo entero.
En este ejemplo puedes ver cómo se comporta el second conditional: si se cumple una condición específica (que me toque la lotería), pasará algo concreto (viajaré por el mundo); pero esa condición (que me toque la lotería) es poco menos que un sueño imposible, por eso decimos que se trata de una situación hipotética futura poco probable.
